Year 2 Thank You

I can hardly believe that it has been 2 years since I started this photography blog. In some ways it feels a lot longer (in a good way) and in others it seems like this journey has just begun. I would like to extend a sincere “Year 2 Thank You” to each and every reader for your ongoing support.

Our second year has seen significant growth in our reader community. In January 2015 we started with about 2 dozen folks who had been following my postings on Photography Life. In February 2016 that had grown to 1,600 subscribers. Then, by July 2016, we had grown to 4,000 subscribers. Within the next week or so we will eclipse 7,000.

While this photography blog is still very tiny when compared to other ones that are on the internet it is very heartening to witness the growth we have experienced.

The number of unique visitors visiting this blog increased by 59.6% over 2015 and the number of reader visits was up over 79%. We had almost 1.5 million page views in 2016, an increase of over 130% compared to 2015.

2016 was a busy year with over 140 new postings added to this photography blog and thousands of my images featured in them.

I am very pleased to report that in two years I have only had to remove one inappropriate comment from this blog. That speaks volumes of the mutual respect with which our readers hold each other.

We added a donation button to the blog last summer and we deeply appreciate the support that readers have shown to help defray some of the costs to run this blog.

As I look forward in 2017 there are some exciting things in the pipeline. Of course I’ll continue to write new articles here, as well as make ongoing contributions on Photography Life. Time permitting there hopefully will be some additional guest postings on

At this point I have 5 major writing projects underway and in various states of progress. There are three photography tour e-books under active development. The one on New Zealand is planned to be the first one published in 2017 and available for purchase on this blog.

Two other photography tour books will follow, as well as an e-book focusing on my experiences with the Nikon 1 system. The fifth e-book project will be focused on providing beginner and novice photographers with some useful, and easy-to-follow photography tips regardless of the gear they use.

So, there’s lots of work ahead…and none of it would make any sense at all without each of you supporting this photography blog. I look forward to a great 2017 with you!
